ACK Style

I returned yesterday afternoon from a fabulous weekend with my girlfriends on Nantucket. We had lots of laughs and even more wine!! We were there for the wine festival. I'll be channeling this style all week. Happy Monday!

Palm Beach Style

For as long as I can remember I've wanted to retire someplace warm, I'm not wishing my life away but I figure there's no time like the present to start planning for tomorrow.  I love the colorful, vintage vibe that Palm Beach fashion and interior design style exudes.
You can bet in 30 years during the winter months, I'll be basking poolside sipping tequila kissed libations.  In any case there's no reason I can't channel this chic style all summer long! Below are the details and the links!

#4 - Palm Beach Cocktail:

1 1/2 oz of gin
1 1/2 teaspoons of sweet vermouth
1 1/2 tsp of grapefruit juice

xx

Captured

I went to New York for an extended weekend. It was a whirlwind but amazing time. Fashion week began the night I arrived so the city was abound with fashionistas. I flew down to meet a very sweet friend who was kind enough to invite me to stay with him at Andaz Hotel. (a peaceful escape from the craziness). We fit so much into this trip. Here's a short photographic journey of some of the things I did and sites I saw. I was also able to catch Book of Mormon on Broadway! I know this sounds cliche, but I LOVE NY. It's one of my favorite places to visit and is only a 45 minute flight from Boston.

From Top Left to Right:

1. Street artists painting the doors of Hotel Andaz. (Where I stayed)
2. Detail of sculptural at The Met
3. Tory Burch lucite and brass door pull detail. (Meat Packing District location)

Middle:
4. View from the Boathouse in Central Park
5. Bryant Park

Bottom:
6. Painting Detail of Bohemia Lies by the Sea - Anselm Kiefer (and the color inspiration for my new room when i move)
7. Inside The Empire State Building

I miss ACK !

 HERE IS WHY:

The sheer beauty and history
All the vintage truck and cars

jeep top down freedom
The quaintness
The brick and cobblestones
The amazing interiors!!
The fashion and people (everyone is there to have a good time)
The architecture
The Beaches
The gardens
Oversand vehicle permits - perfection
A cottage like this would do me just fine!! I walked by this one all week.
The nightlife (yes, I still go to the box!)
The shopping
The celebrations
Nantucket is up there on my list of "favorite places" on earth. I try to visit as often as I can, which really isn't enough! I've only missed one summer visit over the past 20 years! I'm hoping to spend at least one month out of the summer there someday! A girl can dream right?? Always! Never stop dreaming!

Kelly for Groundworks + more...

I'm loving Kelly Wearstler's refined fabric collaboration for Lee Jofa's Groundworks collection. Charcoals, blacks and cream tones paired with bright shades are sitting well with me right now! A couple of my girl friend's and I are thinking of heading to Miami for a getaway this Fall. (the plus side to using my Amex too much - free miles) I vote that we stay at the Miami-Viceroy. I'll at least grab a drink there to take in the amazing design details! I've been a fan of Kelly's work since I was in grad school, that was about 12 years ago. (I hate to date myself) The entire design hits on so many details that I'm currently adoring! See my mentions below! I love that Kelly marches to the beat of her own drum, her designs and fabrics feel more artist and dynamic then anything else.

When I move I think I need to cover something in the charcoal and cream faux bois print (top pillow above)

LOVE: Limed wood paired with aqua and deep cobalt
Architectural outdoor spaces
Graphic chairs, tufting and limey-yellow ( a color predicted to trend next winter)
Rope details and small club chairs - working on a nursery with rope details right now!
Oversized lamps and tufting! (Did I mention tufting ? )
And as ALWAYS, fret work..I'm always searching for the next best fretwork design.
Custom Chandeliers and citrus yellow

Dreaming of....

It's been raining in Boston ALL WEEK, so I've decided that I am going to take a full week off this summer, to take surfing lessons (lucky for me my friend Steffan is an amazing surfer), hang out at the beach, wear Kaftans, relax, and in my dreams rent a cottage like the one below. It will basically be my version of a Bohemian Beach Bum vacation. I may even shut my phone off for a few days. (not sure if that's possible, but a total escape would be perfection).
P.S. I have always loved the top image, I tore it out of a magazine years ago and then it popped up on Pinterest! Ahh. Pinterest, what the hell did I do without Pinterest? Do I dare toss my files of tear sheets?

GREAT KAFTANS ARE FROM: CAMILLAONLINE, AND RIKSHAW DESIGN
