Happy Friday, Happy Home

Hi y'all. I came across adorable designer Gen Sohr and her home in this month's issue of Matchbook magazine. I love her style, and the fresh, updated classic look of her abode. I thought it would be the perfect post to follow my classic style segment......

On a house note.....the hardwood floors are being refinished and stained over the next three days! Moving day is set for Tuesday....Stay tuned for some deets next week! The kitchen (love her kitchen!) is in shambles but I'll live and be eating either raw meals or take out for about a month!
check out: Gen's blog
I need to hang my baubles like this: from simple gold hooks!

On a side note: I'm heading to the stone vendor today. I think I'm leaning towards a clean white statuario countertop!

Holy Shiznit - The Hamptons continuted!

Guilty as charged!! This is a direct re-post from my good friend's blog While I'm on the subject of The Hampton's this week, how could I possibly fail to mention J.Christopher Burch's fabulous Hampton's vacation (yes - vacation) home? It's gorge from head to toe!!

Also, a bit of news for my local peeps. They are opening a C.Wonder shop at Derby shops in Hingham, Ma. I was thrilled to hear that bit of info this week!! Images and deets via AD.
I think I need to use this headboard fabric someplace in my life!!

Inspired!

I won't even reveal what time my eyes popped open this morning.(Ridiculous) I have lots going on and can hopefully share all the details soon!

It's a problem when I get so busy that I barely have time to surf the web or my favorite blogs!
I did, however, take advantage of my pre-dawn wake up time to do a little pinning and surfing.
I was thrilled to stumble upon this: This week on Glamour, Jen Weinberg provides a peek into Marlien Rentmeester's home and closet. Read her interview here. I adore Marlien's style. This chic lady is absolutely inspiring me am!

Welcome Home!

My house hunt is in "full effect." The market is tight but, I'm convinced I'll find the perfect little abode soon enough. My search has got me thinking about homes in general but mostly about first impressions. Luckily, I'm able to drive up to a shabby place and envision the best. I feel blessed to have this ability especially with my budget.
The homes I'm scouting are about an 1/8 of the size of these but almost any home, no matter the dimensions, can be treated with love and made beautiful. My plan is to start with a classic foundation on the exterior paint color (in either light grey or crisp white) and then add a layer of interest and unexpected detail with either a detailed front door (image 1) or a pop of vibrant color.(image 5)
Your home should be a reflection of you, a welcome presence that greets you after a long day. From farmhouse to transitional to modern to classic this round-up of homes proves there is a look and style for everyone! Do you know your style? Or favorite look?

Adoring...

the flawless preppy + graphic details of designer Elizabeth McKay and her hubby's (Teddy) NYC abode. Their home and Elizabeth's shop and clothing line are featured in this month's issue of Matchbook Magazine. And that elephant pendant? Don't even get me started! It's adorable.
Her kiddie's quarters are so fresh and clean! I'm having a nursery photographed next week that used the same approach. I prefer to create rooms that a child can grow with!

Farm House Fresh

What a gorgeous shot this is! I adore this modern take on a classic farmhouse by interior designer Laura Day. Bright + Beautiful! I've definitely been seeing a trend of lighter walls for the past year or so.
Love the simple kitchen floor!
The exterior of this house is perfect, perfect, perfect!

Inspired: relaxed and evolved

I've long loved this photo of Carolyn Murphy in her home. (She has since sold this house) This space feels a bit bohemian, a bit chic, and a bit beach side. I aim to design spaces that feel like they've evolved over time, with a mix of old and new, glamorous and hand crafted. Timeless, but fresh is the goal! And Carolyn? She's just gorgeous, I admire her effortless style and perfect body of course!!
This photograph looks like it could have been taken in the South of France

Mixing pillows like these from Amber's shoppe, will help you achieve this look at home! I recently suggested one to a client for a nursery project.
