Summer lovin....

Wow, is it really almost September?
I'm not sure where August went or the past six years for that matter. It's crazy how fast the time goes when you start measuring the years by your child's age. My son begins kindergarten next week, it seem like yesterday I was celebrating his first birthday! (sniff, sniff)

I thought I'd share one last cottage styled beach house with you before August comes to an end. I'm loving the organic quality of this design, especially the fresh white walls and the colorful, bohemian feeling rugs!!

Cottage Love #8 + thoughts on home

I've decided to designate Monday's post to my "thoughts on home" series. Today I've combined the cottage love post (another well received series) with the "thoughts on home".

 

I've shared with you in the past my love of the California cottage style. I'm surely going to add some bohemain luxe to my new place. (think white walls, worn tibetan rugs, modern and vintage elements combined etc.)

Cottage Love #9

Not much makes this girl happier than the warm weather!! After a loooooong winter, it's finally getting nice in Boston. Beach cottage season is on the way and though I don't own a summer home, I thoroughly enjoy the benefits of living in a town on the water. 
I was reading Coastal Living over the weekend and came across the beautiful Amagansett, N.Y. cottage of Christiane Lemieux. She and her husband run  DwellStudio, the popular textile and furniture company.  I adore the ease and simplicity of this sweet home. When you live on the water, fussiness just doesn't make sense!

A goodie!

I'm big on transformations, they'e truly one of the best parts of my job! A happy client makes for a thrilled designer. This little cottage was beautifully updated. I would have opted for a charcoal paint color over the brown but it's still adorable!

Shelter Loves 2.23.13

Good Morning, thought I'd sneak in a Saturday edition of "Shelter Loves" today. I'm obviously admiring all things Oscar inspired this week. Including this stunning but intriguing photo by Terry O'Neil of Faye Dunaway the morning after winning an Oscar in 1977 for Network.

"She isn't sure quite who she is any more. I waited for her to look away from the camera, and I got the shot. I look at this picture often, and I'm still so proud of it. It's still the best Oscar picture ever taken. And modern photographers should take that as a challenge."  - Terry O'Neil

2. You really can't go wrong with a classic black heel a la Faye Dunaway. They're timeless.

3. I'm attending a fund raising Gala next week. I'm looking forward to dressing up for a night on the town, ;). After I spend the day on book work today, ugh, I'm running out to find a pair of statement earrings like these emerald stunners.

4. Do you drink champagne? I do. This oversized bucket would look beautiful filled with chilled bubbly. I'd love to have an Oscar party some day, maybe when the kiddies are older.

5. I dream of having an entrance like this... I'd splash a little color on the front door, although the all white scheme is pretty.

6. NEVER!

7. I adore this sweet little straw clutch, it comes in natural and turquoise too.

I'm going to try and head to an Oscar nominated movie tonight! Did you have a favorite this year? I watched the classic Here Comes Mr. Jordan, 1941 last night. It won two academy awards. My goal is to watch 13 classic movies in 2013. I'm on number 3!

Chic Surf Shack - Cottage Love #8

 I'm a summer girl through and through so the thought of owning or escaping to a surf cottage warms my heart! This 850 sq foot surf shack proves good things do come in small packages!!

Cottage (well sort of) #7

Emma Reddington's home looks a bit more like a Brownstone then a cottage, but I thought it was "swoon" worthy of my cottage love series! It's a approachable, casual, chic and a bit off beat. Just how I like 'em....Plus I'm loving all things with a touch of cozy sheepskin or faux fur right now (I used a bit in my photo shoot last week)..must be the Arctic freeze we're still in. Ahhh more Cottage Love...the home of designer Tia Zoldan floated around the blog and print world a few years ago but I still LOVE this stunner!!! In fact I could move right in! I mean are you kidding me with that cabana and pool?? Tia's also an artist, see her impressive pieces below and here. Happy Friday!

I have a chair very similar to this that I'm having upholstered for my new place. I'm thinking of doing the body in one fabric and the seat in a yummy pink velvet.
